Jaewon Sim graduated from Korea University in August 2019 with a B.S. in Biotechnology. As an undergraduate research project, Jaewon investigated the relation between Alzheimer’s disease and obesity by focusing on the inflammatory aspect of obesity. After graduation, she worked as a researcher and explored the Two-pore domain (K2P) potassium channels channel’s function in neuroinflammation and neurogenesis. Jaewon is interested in neuro-immune interactions and their roles in the initiation or aggravation of neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s disease, chronic pain, and major depressive disorder. She is eager to study the basis of neuro-immune crosstalk by concentrating on glial cells and immune cells during her Ph.D. course. Jaewon likes to play the piano and watch cute cat videos in her free time.
