Kenia Segura Aba

Kenia Segura Abá will graduate from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Kenia's current research project focuses on studying the plant-endophyte symbiosis between Panicum virgatum (switchgrass), and several endophytic fungi previously studied and found to be beneficial to plants in low water conditions along with Dr. Christine Hawkes at NCSU, who is carrying out endophytic community analysis on leaf tissue for elucidating physiological responses in switchgrass. Kenia is interested in the Genetics and Genome Sciences program and the Molecular Plant Sciences Program at MSU and would like to pursue research in green renewable energy production in plants and microorganisms in the Buell, Shiu, Hamberger, Ducat, Hegg, or Kramer labs.
